Give Yourself a Second Chance with Dental Implants

When a tooth is lost it can be very emotionally disappointing. My least favorite part of being a dentist is telling a patient that I can't save his or her tooth. Thankfully, now I have a solution that makes the experience easier to handle. If a tooth is lost and a dental implant can be placed right away, the patient can have amazingly natural looking results.

Dental implants can be used to replace a single tooth, multiple teeth, or support and stabilize a denture. Implants are a very predictable, safe and affordable treatement when teeth have been lost.

The way dental implants work is miraculous. Titanium implants that are shaped similarly to the root of a single rooted tooth can be placed in the jawbone either at the time a tooth is removed or a a later time. The implants are coated with a chemical that promotes the cells that make bone to allow the bone to be deposited on the surface of the implant during the healing process.

Once healing is complete, the implant can begin to endure the forces associated with chewing. Once the dental implant is integrated, a new dental crown can be attached to the top of the implant so that the tooth will be functional and aesthetic. Dental implants are then taken care of very similarly to the natural teeth.
