We also use technology that allows you, the patient, to become involved in treatment. This technology includes digital x-rays and photographs that can be enlarged, tooth decay and other concerns can be circled and the images can be e-mailed to you to show to your spouse or loved one who will be helping you make decisions about your care. A dental laser called the diagnodent is used to detect decayed areas of the tooth by analyzing the density of the tooth and registering a number to indicate how far the decay has gotten into the tooth.
